Cycling tourism development and perspectives in the region of Peonia
Cyclists Welcome Hellas” network that is being developed as an Iron Curtain Trail project activity under work package 4 (WP4), was presented in a conference organised at the Municipality of Paionia in Polykastro of Kilkis, on June 25th 2014.

In the conference, titled “Social and solidarity economy, social enterprises and perspectives” that was organised by the “Support Structure in Social Economy of Central Macedonia”, Giorgos Farfaras, the representative of ANTIGONE (ICT PP6), presented Iron Curtain Trail main activities, progress and objectives. 

Furthermore, he stressed the attention of the participant public authorities representatives and stakeholders to the development of “Cyclists Welcome” as a network that can include various services addressed to cyclist tourists and everyday cyclists in the region. During his presentation, G. Farfaras focused on the sustainable thematic tourism in the region of Paionia and the perspectives of its development in the region. He referred to the already implemented activities in the prefectures of Central and Eastern Macedonia. As far as it concerned “Cyclists Welcome Hellas”, G. Farfaras presented the compulsory and optional criteria set for the participation of the relevant accommodation services while he also spoke about the importance of the existence of quality services along a EuroVelo cycling route.
